#1: Earthy Pixie

This look is Lydia Deetz meets earthy pixie. It’s playful yet edgy. I have found that baby bangs go surprisingly well with so many face shapes! They are feminine and bold. I would say they are for girls who don’t care to stand out with their hair and also like it out of their face. To style, I recommend Kevin Murphy Night.Rider because it separates and holds. Pair that product with a few days of not washing your hair to avoid too much fluff!

#2: Choppy Short Bangs on a Textured Lob

For girls with straight hair who want to add edge to their locks, choppy short bangs on a textured lob can be the perfect cut. Textured lobs paired with the choppiness of the bangs complement each other. They create a modern and trendy look. To style, start with dry hair and apply a texturizing spray to create a choppy look. Use a flat iron to straighten the hair and finish with a light-hold hairspray.

#3: Deep Face Frame

If you want a new cut for your balayage short hair, consider trying a deep face frame with choppy bangs. This style is perfect for adding dimension and movement to your hair while framing your face. The deep face frame adds shape and contour to your hair, while the choppy bangs create an edgy and modern look. This cut works best for those with fine to medium hair. To style, begin with damp hair and apply a texturizing spray if you want added volume and definition. Ask for tips from your stylist to get the best out of your style!

#4: Choppy Bangs on Long Ombre Hair

Choppy bangs on long ombre hair can create a bold and textured look. It’s perfect for women who want a modern and trendy style. The bangs should be bluntly cut and give an asymmetrical lift for a more playful appearance. This haircut works best for women with square-shaped faces. The best way to style is to dry your hair with a blow dryer. Add a texturizing spray and scrunch the hair with your fingers. If you want, you can also use a curling iron to add some waves making sure to curl away from the face.

#5: Choppy Ends and Choppy Bangs

This shoulder-length cut is all about texture and movement. It features choppy ends that frame the face and choppy bangs for a playful finish. Start by blow-drying the hair in sections for effortless volume. Use a round brush to keep the ends smooth. Once dry, I suggest using a curling iron to create pieces of texture and shape. This will lift the look and give it body and movement. Finish by using a shine serum to add life to the locks.

#6: Textured Lob with Choppy Bangs

I would describe this look as a textured lob with choppy bangs. My favorite thing about this look is the chopped bangs because they enhance the cut, giving it a soft yet edgy feel. This look is great to soften someone with a more square or round face shape and give a client with a finer hair texture more volume and fullness. I feel that it’s a very universal look and can be finished with a smooth or fun textured style.

#7: Choppy Curved Bangs

Textured straight fringe on a layered medium cut can be a great look for someone with a heart face shape. To create this look, opt for choppy layers while leaving the bangs longer and curved. This will give the overall look more structure and frame your face nicely. When styling, use a round brush with a blow dryer to keep a little bit of volume at the top. It will also bend the ends of the bangs inward. Be sure to use a lightweight hairspray or mousse to keep the look in place all day.

#8: Modern Curly Shag with Fun Bangs

This is a modern curly shag with fun bangs. I love this look because it’s a fantastic length that shows off the texture with a stylish and edgy twist. This shag gives a trendy, tousled look and the pieces that frame her face add some flair.

This style is suitable for fine, thick, curly/wavy, and straight hair. It’s wearable and easy to maintain. For curly hair, I suggest a curl serum/cream before diffusing to hold curls and create definition. For straight hair, blow dry first, then apply a texture putty/cream for separation and definition. This haircut is flattering on oval and heart-shaped faces. It can be worn as both a professional and sassy look.

#9: Light Brown Balayage with Choppy Fringe

A light brown balayage with a choppy fringe is a modern twist on a traditional lob. Bangs have definitely made a comeback this season, we’re seeing more of them in traditional shapes. A helpful way to marry bangs and balayage together is to ask for a sombre or “lived in” color. Don’t forget to add a few highlights throughout your bangs for a softer blend.

#10: Amazing Pixie Shag with Choppy Fringe

Are you feeling bold? Take your hair makeover to the next level and try a chic pixie shag with choppy fringe. A shag pixie with a choppy fringe will bring body and movement with its stacking layers. Be aware over layering can make fine hair look too thin and sparse. When styling, use a short-bristle brush. Use a heat-activated volumizing spray on damp hair, too. It helps create random sections of texture. Finally, add shine by spritzing dry strands with a finishing mist. Bumble and Bumble’s Shine Flash 02 is great for this. With these easy tips, anyone can achieve salon-quality results at home!

#11: Chic and Tousled Mid-Length Cut

If you have a wider forehead and medium hair, consider adding some wispy bangs. Use a fringe to try to camouflage and shorten your forehead appearance. Texturizing the ends of your bangs softens and gives a feathered appearance. You’ll want to trim every 3-4 weeks.

#12: Adorable Baby Shag with Choppy Bangs

Look super cute with an adorable baby shag with choppy bangs. If you want to conceal your forehead or add your own personal touch, adding a bang is just what you need. I suggest having them chipped into to give them a more modern, updated look.

#13: Very Dark Long Pixie with Choppy Bangs

Get into a very dark long pixie with choppy bangs. A short haircut needs to be spot on, so my best advice is to find a stylist who specializes in this niche. A pixie should be textured and dimensional. So, point cutting or razor work is your best bet to get separation. If you can, embrace the asymmetry in the fringe, and it will make your cut more interesting. Try styling your cut with a more forward shape utilizing a texture paste as you work the hair.

#14: Cute Short Bob with Thick Choppy Bangs

You’ll love a cute short bob with a thick choppy bang. Adding a bang to your shape is one of the easiest ways to give your cut a change. You should consider your face shape and a fringe might not be a great choice for small foreheads or close set eyes. Round or narrow facial features will benefit from a choppy bang and accentuate your eyes. Try adding a bit of wave to your bob with a 1-inch iron or wand.

#15: Stunning Sleek Long Blonde Hair

When growing your hair out, the goal is to have long blonde hair. But, it’s helpful to know about the maintenance and care. To avoid breakage, create a plan with your stylist to ensure the best results.

#16: Sexy Sandy Brown Mid-Length Hair

Depending on how you wear your hair, an accent foil placed can give the illusion of a natural sun-kissed look. It can be a sexy sandy brown on mid-length hair or a color palette that compliments your natural color.

#17: Brunette Mid-Length Hair with Textured Fringe

Consider brunette mid-length hair if you want to try a shag but are hesitant about the shorter layers. The fringe gives you a hint of shorter layers. I personally recommend slide-cutting some of those top layers after your initial cut. You’ll get to see exactly where and how those layers will style and fall. One drawback is if you wear your hair straight, you might be able to see some of those pieces. So just make sure you are slide cutting and not just blunt cutting.

#18: Unique Straight-Across Choppy Bangs

Consider unique, straight-across, choppy bangs if you’re looking to shake things up. If you have curly hair you do not want to try this fringe unless you want to flat iron them every wash. Straight-haired ladies, go for it, but an important point is to cut them dry. This will allow for cowlicks and hairline imperfections. Keep in mind a precise bang will need to be shaped up about every 4-5 weeks.

#19: Lived-In Blonde Shag with Jagged Bangs

A lived-in blonde shag with jagged bangs proves shags are for everyone. There are so many variations of this hairstyle, and they are all chic. For this version, the layers are longer and more textured at the ends. It’s almost a solid blonde but with a root smudge or a foil into a balayage, leaving the natural color to shine through. Either way, it’s stunning.

#20: Short Choppy 90s Bangs

Short choppy bangs are one of the best 90s trends circling back around. One of the best ways to create choppy bangs is to begin with a blunt line and point cut into your hair. This ensures a choppy look that is not too blunt or wispy. For my clients, I also consider the face shape before deciding on a length to ensure the bangs will suit the client.

#21: Full French Bob with Choppy Fringe

#22: Long Brunette Shag with Choppy Fringe

You should try a long brunette shag with a choppy fringe. This look is great if you have natural waves or curls to add body to the cut. You can ask your stylist for a long-layered shag with short choppy bangs. To style this cut, you can towel dry and apply a texturizing mousse like R Co Aircraft, then diffuse your hair with the dryer.

#24: Mid-Length Blonde Hair with Choppy Fringe

Mid-length hair with choppy fringe is a high fashion look. Adding long layers to a mid-length cut will add movement and shape to the ends. A choppy thick fringe is a big statement and really showcases the eyes. Style with a round brush to add volume and a slight curl to the ends.

#26: Cute Choppy Side Bangs

#28: Sophisticated Yet Fun

I would describe this as being a sophisticated yet fun look. It has the sophistication of normal bangs, but the choppy texture of this fringe gives it an edgy and playful vibe.

Due to the choppy texture of the bang (as opposed to a blunt bang), it gives the client the ability to style it multiple ways. The fringe can be styled forward, as well as off to the side. It can be styled smooth and polished, or messy and undone.

This style looks best on clients with medium to thick hair since the choppiness of the bangs could be too thinning on fine hair. Its versatility makes it very adaptable and manageable for anyone’s lifestyle.

When styling a choppy fringe, use a dry texturizing spray like Davines More Inside Dry Texturizer, a polish and separation spray like Davines Your Hair Assistant Definition Mist, and/or a dry wax pomade like Davines More Inside Forming Pomade. Any product that is going to create definition and a “piece-y” look is going to be your best friend!

#29: Lob with Choppy Bangs

This is a long bob with bangs with interior layering and a blunt textured fringe. The focal point that gives it that personal flare is the fringe!

This look is for someone that wants that effortless, fashion-inspired style. Use Surface Hair styling products to get that high performance and vegan quality. Try Surface Swirl, a sea salt spray, and Surface Spray Wax. The sea salt spray and wax go on dry hair to give that all-over piece-y beach look. If the wax isn’t used on the fringe, it would appear more blunt and full.

The key to any textured fringe is to style it with a wax to give it that pieced-out feel without it looking like a two-year-old took scissors to it. Always ask your stylist about the fullness and style of the fringe and the look you are trying to achieve, because not everyone can pull off the same fringe. It matters what face shape you have and your personal style. You wear the fringe, the fringe does not wear you!

#30: French Girl Cool

This look embodies the term “effortless, French girl cool.” When I create something natural like this, I feel most and home with my craft. The fabric is natural, and the shape is customized to your hair. Anyone who wants this look should be prepared to embrace their natural texture and be ready to have light, effortless hair! This shape can be very versatile. You can wear it short, long, with or without bangs. You can even customize the style or length of bangs as you wish.

#31: Natural & Effortless

This style is a modern take on an early 70s look.

The bangs are choppy and not too perfect which really suits the style. The look is feminine and soft. If you already have a beautiful natural wave to your hair texture, embrace and enhance it to make it natural and effortless.

This look is great for women with a laid-back, low-maintenance lifestyle. Women with natural waves and texture to their hair will have an easier time achieving this look. Because it’s so versatile, it’s great for any face shape.

#32: Shag with Straight Across Textured Bangs

Go for a hairstyle like a mild, easier-to-style shag with a straight across and textured bang. The bang can also be customized shorter or longer depending on what you’re comfortable with. It can be even more or less choppy as well.

Make sure you have enough hair to make a bang in the first place. Some women have extremely weak hairlines or too straight of hair for a heavy bang. Take into consideration the texture of your hair and if you want to style it daily or are able to live with a messier fringe. Lifestyle plays a huge role with bangs.

#33: Curved Full Fringe

My favorite thing about this style of fringe is that it works on most types of hair and face shapes but is especially nice for women whose hairlines are deep or receding at the temple or who have finer hair. It’s also very versatile. You can wear this look longer so it just skims the bridge of the nose, add texture, change the part line, or up your ponytail game!

I would advise a client to really make sure they are committed to embracing bangs for a while. Fringe is a bit easier to grow out with wispy bangs. There will also be more maintenance because this look should be trimmed up every four to six weeks to keep the bangs out of your eyes.

#34: Brow-Skimming Bangs

The loose, brow-skimming bangs give this bob style an added level of chicness.

My favorite thing about this haircut is that the haircut will do all of the work! Also, the bangs are cut in a way that allow her natural movement to work easily while framing her beautiful face.

To recreate this look, begin by applying UNITE 7-Seconds Leave-In Conditioner to protect the hair and add shine. The most important thing is to dry your bangs shortly after shampooing using a small cushion brush to control cowlicks and tame them into shape. Allow the rest of your hair to air dry or dry on low speed with high heat while blowing down the strand.

I recommend this hairstyle for the majority of face shapes. A knowledgeable stylist will know how to tailor the bangs to contour all face shapes so they draw attention to the best features. Straight and wavy hair would benefit the most from this shape.

Also, for anyone who wants to have bold style with minimal work, this is a great route to go.  You can throw your hair into a messy pony and let the choppy bangs be the focal point!

#35: Modern Bob

The classic bob will never go out of style, obviously, but the way to keep a classic look modern is by changing the way you style it and accessorize it (bangs).

The bangs add a whole new element to keep the hair looking put together. It’s amazing for those days you have to rush out and don’t have time to style your hair down. Whether your wear this haircut with beachy waves, straight or up, the texture in it adds the modern element needed to update a classic look.

Bangs warm up a face so much. They make you more inviting and approachable!

For anyone who likes to just let their hair air dry, the go-to product is Wella’s Ocean Spritz. I tell everyone to tousle their hair after the shower, make sure your part is correct, and let the hair get to about 40% to 50% dry. After that, go in and spritz away! This way there’s more product than water taking up the majority of each hair strand, it won’t cause as much frizz, and the product will work to its full ability.

For those who like to properly style, assuming a blow dryer will be involved, I’ll share two things. Regardless of a rough dry or a blowout, I’d again start with the Ocean Spritz. You can create this look using a Mason Pearson brush or a round brush along with a blow dryer, twisting the brush as it goes through the hair. Once the hair is dried like that, end the look with Evo’s She-Bang-A-Bang Dry Spray Wax. This product is awesome! It’s a spray wax that will help hold a look and define the waves, but it won’t feel like hairspray is in the hair.

If someone is rough drying their hair, once it’s completely dry they can section it off and use either a curling iron or wand on medium heat. Taking small sections at a time, alternate the direction of each curl. This way the waves will collide and get a messier look, looking like a beach wave. Finger comb afterward and again, throw in the Spray Wax!

I want everyone, regardless of what their routine is, to have an option to create the desired look. For anyone who lets their hair air dry or who wants to put in minimal effort, they might not achieve the exact look unless they want to put in the extra time using a dryer or hot tools. The longer styling method can be worth it because it’ll last for a few days!

I recommend this look for a wide range of clients. As long as you’re seeing the right person for the job, this cut can work with many hair textures, especially if you have very fine, short hair. Keeping the shorter blunt with a heavy weight line creates a fuller look to her hair.

Honestly, I’ve cut all other hair textures into this look and it works! The only difference between each head of hair is the techniques you’re using to cut, that’s why I express the importance of seeing the right person for the job. Each cut could look identical, but it was not the same journey to get there.

For face shapes, this cut can be used to accentuate certain angles or to eliminate them. For someone with a square shape, this works awesome to show off that jawline with the line of the bangs and the lines from the bob. For someone with a round face, this will help to cut into the shape and if you keep a little more length in the bob itself, it’ll “elongate” the face some.

Clients often talk about their forehead during consultations. My recommendation? Do what you want! Bangs can work on all foreheads! All that is altered is the style, whether you get curtain bangs, baby bangs, blunt bangs, or textured bangs. A popular inspiration for this cut at all different lengths, all different styles, and all different bangs is Alexa Chung. I reference her a lot to show how versatile “a bob with bangs” can be.

#36: Choppy Baby Bangs

This cut features textured layers and choppy baby bangs. It has movement from the razor and the layers feature “piece-y-ness” in the bangs.

To style, use Volume Whip and Undone Texture Spray, both Paul Mitchell products from the Invisiblewear line. This bob cut is great for fine hair as it gives that textured and effortless look without weighing the hair down.

Bangs are a commitment think about your styling habits before taking the plunge. A little effort is required, even for effortless looks! Bobs with short bangs are for someone who wants a funkier style, but doesn’t want to spend hours styling.

#41: Long Shag with Choppy Bangs

A long shag with choppy bangs helps create body while keeping density throughout the silhouette. A shaggy hairstyle with bangs, with layers feathered the choppiest at the crown, helps lift up the over style. Jazz it up with a 1 1/2 inch iron and dry shampoo powder for grit and texture.
