Surprising facts about sweating
Our body is a wonderful structure. To protect it and to ensure it stays in good health, we need to remove the harmful acids and toxins that results from the breakdown of body fat. This is why sweating is important.
The role of sweat – to accelerate detoxification
Sweating is one of the most important ways of getting rid of toxins and acids. Once we start to sweat, the lymphatic system kicks into action. This system’s main task is to select harmful substances, in the form of fluids and tissues, and remove them from the body through the skin.
The process looks like this: Starting to sweat => Lymphatic = > Intensive detoxification
Toxins left => Fat departure => Weight Loss
When you put your body through an intensive detox or diet, the toxins need a way to leave the body. This easiest way to do this is by sweating . The beneficial effects of sweating can be achieved in two ways:
1 Exercise – Active sweating
Activity and intensive exercise will help speed the body’s detoxification. It doesn’t matter what exercise you do, so long as it makes you sweat, it is helping you to detox.
2 Sauna – Passive sweating
The sauna achieves the same detoxifying effects as exercise, with minimal movement. The sauna triggers the lymphatic system. It improves blood circulation and speeds up the metabolism. In addition, the sauna can lower blood pressure , reduce muscle spasms and improve skin tone. It also helps people suffering rheumatic pain.
Sweating is important – exercise and sauna
Exercise or sauna ?
While a sauna will speed up metabolism, promote weight loss and tone muscle, it is not a substitute for exercise.
• starts the lymphatic system
• improves blood circulation
• speeds up metabolism
• promotes detoxification
• improves skin tone
What will make you sweat?
What are the options when it comes to a sauna? There are two main types of sauna – Finnish sauna or infrared sauna.
Unlike traditional Finnish sauna (which heats up the air to 70-90 °) , the infrared radiation produces heat that goes directly into the body, not the air. The heat is absorbed directly into the skin, making the high temperatures more bearable. This, in turn, puts less strain on your body and the sweating or detoxifying effect is more intense than a traditional Finnish sauna.
Weight Loss through detoxification and sweating
If you decide that an intensive programme of detoxification is for you, then we recommend the following steps:
1 Drink at least 3-4 liters of fluid per day
2 Reduce the quantity and increase the quality of your meals
3 Do moderate to intensive exercise at least 3 times a week
4 Have a sauna at least three times a week, for at least 30 minutes
5 Add high intensity training to your exercise programme
Symptoms of detoxification – what to be aware of
When you follow a detoxification, weight loss or fat burning programme, you are changing the way your body works. Such a radical change to your lifestyle will inevitably have side effects. As you are removing acids and toxins from your body, you may feel some unpleasant, temporary side effects.
Here are some of the more common ones:
• Oral – bad breath
• Dermal – rash, itchiness and skin problems
• Digestion – a change in toilet habits, diarrhoea or constipation
• Urine – the colour and odour of your urine will be different to normal
• (In women ) vaginal discharge
Other detox symptoms may include : fatigue, dizziness, headache, muscular pain, allergic reaction. But it is important to remember that these detox symptoms are a good sign! They indicates that the detox is working and your body is getting rid of harmful substances. In this case, do not stop the program , do not change anything, just carry on.
While detoxing, remember to pay attention to your fluid intake. This is really important as you are sweating more, and the liquid is needed to flush the toxins from the body. Really, this fluid should be water, sugary drinks or fruit juice will not have the same effect.
