For many of us, we train indoors to ride harder outdoors. With busy schedules, weather, you name it, time spent on a trainer or indoor bike is still valuable and should be logged. MapMyRide offers outdoor cyclists statistics on every ride — and used consistently, a training journal quickly evolves, allowing for historical performance tracking.

Here’s a quick primer on logging on MapMyRide:

Several indoor cycling bikes provide data files to share with MapMyRide. Using the USB drive, riders can save their results to a thumb drive. Select “Import Workout” to analyze and store indoor training efforts.

From the Import Workout screen, click IMPORT DATA

Press “Choose File” then select the file (.fit or .gpx) on your computer or USB drive.

Name your workout and view results.

Naturally, elevation data is zeroed out — those weren’t really hills anyway. Power, speed and cadence data are now available for analysis.
