Model Crystal Renn became famous for her curvy physique and gorgeous features, but it seems that those days are long gone. The 25 year old model, who was admired for her fabulous curves on the runways as well as in editorials, has lost a significant amount of weight and now sports a much leaner physique and much sharper facial features.
The change of appearance triggered by Crystal’s weight loss was made visible as she attended the 2020 Metropolitan Opera Season in New York, wearing a gold sequined floor length train gown. Crystal looked indeed gorgeous posing for photographers and along renowned fashion designer Zac Posen, but why did Crystal choose to shed the pounds that she was once so proud of?!

After critiques triggered an alarm signal with regards to Crystal Renn’s transformation which led to suspicion that the industry is pressuring the former plus size model to drop down some weight, Crystal decided to take a stand and defend her new look.
According to DailyMail, Crystal Renn wanted to make sure that there is no conspiracy behind her weight loss and said: “When this whole weight loss thing happened, I think that a lot of people wanted to point their finger at somebody. I think that they wanted to find a conspiracy where there absolutely was none. A lot of people said the industry was pressuring me, my agency was pressuring me, I was pressuring me, but it was just not the case in all three cases. I think the most important thing that we all need to know, whether you’re a model, you’re a normal person walking around, you’re an editor, you’re a photographer, you’re anybody out in the world – it’s about individual health. You cannot tell if someone is healthy, where they are mentally, from the outside, because health is different for everybody at different sizes.”
However, it wasn’t long ago when Crystal Renn was keen on destroying the misconception that only thin women are beautiful. She declared herself very proud of her body and her recognition as a plus size model was peaking. Crystal Renn said in her plus size model days that: “I don’t want young women to think being thin is the only way to be beautiful. Beauty is not a pant size. I’m known for my body and I’m proud of my body.”
Fashion critiques also triggered an alarm signal at the Milan Fashion Week, where fashion designers chose zero size models that revealed a worrying skeleton-like physique. However, there are a few fashion designers that have agreed not to use zero size models in their shows, such as Prada, Versace and Armani. Marc Fast is also one of the designers that regularly uses size 12 and even 14 models to showcase his fabulous designs. Do you think all designers should follow their example and what do you think about Crystal Renn’s new look?
