Antonio Marras Spring 2020 – Milan Fashion Week
Finding its inspiration in Jean Genet’s 1947 play ‘The Maids’, the Antonio Marras collection for spring 2020 presented at Milan Fashion Week tells a captivating story to everyone watching the show which was described by ifashionstyles.com as being an “intimidatingly complicated concept.” In Genet’s play, Solange and Claire are two housemaids who elaborate sadomasochistic rituals when their mistress (Madame) is away. The new Marras collection features some incredibly feminine pieces, perfect for both signoras and servants.
The presentation started in a cute romantic vibe with pretty floral prints on dresses, draped blouses and flowing skirts, which quickly moved to bold shades of emerald green and turquoise. The designer also toyed with leather, macro-sized painted flowers, animal prints and Klee and Mirò spots. However, the main part seems to be played by dresses. From cocktail-appropriate to draped evening gowns, dresses are telling the real story. Still, the collection also features a parade of chic pieces like pantsuits, printed silk tops, pencil skirts, cardigans and jackets.
Even though it might look rather monotonous through the already classic black, white, and softer hues of cream, beige and pink, the Antonio Marras spring 2020 collection has a true spring feeling due to those vibrant shades of fuchsia, turquoise, magenta and emerald green. Embroidered leather stilettos with fur and leather bags complemented the looks amazingly.
