Paris Fashion Week spring 2020 might have ended already, but some of the coolest lines presented in the last days are still very much present in our minds. One of the reasons is that some of the moment’s most influential labels presented their lines and we’ve spotted plenty of cool vibes and many, many thought-provoking pieces. It seems like past decades and the art world have been the perfect creativity stimulants for these giant luxury retailers:
PFW Spring 2020 Trends: ’80s Rock’n’Roll Saint Laurent
Hedi Slimane nailed the rock chic look this fall and isn’t planning on completely leaving these influences aside for spring 2020. However, the focus has shifted from grunge to ’80s – inspired party looks. Subtlety had no place in the new Saint Laurent collection.
Bold one shoulder leather dresses, cool biker jackets, masculine blazers and skinny pants as well as printed mini skirts were among the main highlights of the new Saint Laurent spring 2020 line. View more from: Saint Laurent spring 2020 collection
PFW Spring 2020 Trends: Art Meets Fashion at Chanel
Karl Lagerfeld took inspiration from art for his comprehensive new Chanel spring 2020 line. He brought plenty of colorful ensembles which reflected a “very happy mood,” according to the designer. Even if over 80 outfits were sent down the runway, there wasn’t a single eveningwear alternative in sight. Why? Because he didn’t consider it very relevant in real life: “The red carpet is not fashion. It is something else, but not fashion.” The new line revolved around a multitude of chic tweed pieces, youthful dresses, jumpers and midi skirts. Accessory-wise, the alternatives that stood out the most were sixties-style mid-calf cap-toe boots and necklaces featuring oversized pearls. View more from: Chanel spring 2020 collection
PFW Spring 2020 Trends: Biker Meets Showgirl at Louis Vuitton
Marc Jacobs dedicated the Luis Vuitton spring 2104 collection ‘to the showgirl in all of us’ and to the women who inspired him like Jane Birkin, Katie Grand, Judy Garland, Miuccia Prada and Vivienne Westwood. Immediately after the show ended, it was announced that this was his last line for the label, as it was previously speculated. The new line brought an interesting mix of influences: biker chic, seductress and showgirl were the three personality faces the designer seems to have used as inspiration. The new line brought a myriad of ornate sexy black dresses, sheer gowns, bomber jackets, black flat boots and large feather headdresses, that emphasized the ‘showgirl’ theme. PFW Spring 2020: ’60s & ’70s Remix at Miu Miu
’60 and ’70s retro vibes were Miuccia Prada’s choice for the new Miu Miu spring 2020 collection. The designer brought a series of whimsical pieces with a distinctive retro vibe. Among the pieces that stood out the most in the new line were candy colored coats, vinyl mini skirts, cable knit leggings, Mary Jane heels and knee high lace up boots. Pattern-wise, the choices were rather playful revolving around cats, fishes and birds. Though nothing about the new combos said ‘subtlety’, there were also more toned-down options which can appeal to more conservative fashionistas. View more from: Miu Miu spring 2020 collection
PFW Spring 2020 Trends: Tropical Safari at Hermes
Creative director Christophe Lemaire, didn’t imagine a sunny resort when creating the new Hermes spring 2020 collection. Instead, he chose the “Tropical, after the storm” theme for the new line. There were distinguishable masculine vibes, particularly when it came to shirts, coats and suit jackets. Other important parts of the new line were slouchy pants, midi skirts and chic printed tops, all of which gave the impression of effortless elegance. View more from: Hermes spring 2020 collection
