Cool collaboration alert! Yes, it’s time to reveal a new super-duper project resulting into some really hip goodies. We’re so excited to announce The Rodnik Band X Peanuts collection featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Lucy van Pelt. Set to be released in September, the new line will include traffic-stopping tees (£29) and notice-me-now sequined dresses (£300).
“There is a fun synergy between The Rodnik Band and Peanuts – humour is something that works through each Rodnik collection and it felt like a natural fit to bring the Peanuts character into the Rodnik world,” Philip Colbert told Vogue UK. “They are true icons of pop art and have survived from the Fifties through to now.”
The Rodnik Band is created and designed by Philip Colbert and is inspired by the the Pop Art movement. ‘The Rodnik Band’ label is presented as a pop band rather than a traditional fashion label. Each of the designer’s collections is a unique combination of music, art and fashion in order to create a unique sartorial concept.
How does Colbert describe his approach? “Clothing with a strong sense of fun. This is present in all the collections from the conceptual object dresses, such as the sequin sunflower dress after Van Gogh to the surreal handbags and the bold ready to wear styles that make up the rest of the collection. I develop hand-made prints, using lino printing techniques, bright colours and bold witty styles. My work walks a humorous line between fashion and art, I like the idea that my clothing is taken off the wall and worn, that each style expresses an artistic idea that is accessible and makes a thoughtful statement,” he says.
The Rodnik Band X Peanuts collection includes statement-making pieces ideal to complete your combos in a unique and cool way.
“The Peanuts office in the UK had been following Rodnik designs over the last couple of seasons, and they got in touch suggesting that it could be a fun idea to do something together,” Colbert told Vogue UK. “It was an amazing phone call! I have always loved Peanuts’ comic strips – I would see them everywhere when I was growing up. They are such cute, varied philosophical characters and they have a profound sense of humour – it’s amazingly light yet very deep.”
