Designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli manage to take us, once again, in a magical journey through the latest Valentino spring 2020 couture collection.
“We want to describe the beautiful craftsmanship of couture, but we didn’t want to feel the effort,” said Piccioli, speaking about the show. “Couture has to be magical,” Piccioli explained.
Soft and delicate, the new Valentino couture line is filled with whimsical pieces that remind us of a garden filled with flowers, butterflies and birds. “It’s about the garden, in our vision the garden is where natural and architectural elements live together,” Maria Grazia Chiuri told The Associated Press after the show.
Since they debuted their first haute couture collection for the house back in 2020, the duo proved that they have the ability to fully understand and interpret the world of Valentino. The two designers’ creations express their new vision on the Valentino woman who is characterized by a special elegance and grace. “This year we wanted to surprise,” said Pierpaolo Piccioli about their couture 2020 line. “Not only everyone else, but ourselves first.”

Ethereal gowns, floaty capes, white, ivory, red, black, lace, silk, organza, tulle, flowers, birds, butterflies, crystals and beads are the main ingredients of a superbly gracious collection proving that magic in fashion is possible after all. It seems that at the end of the show, house founder Valentino Garavani stood to his feet and embraced his two successors with visible emotion. And his gesture is completely understandable, isn’t it?
