Early Signs of Pregnancy

Early Signs of Pregnancy

Finding out that you’re pregnant can be exhilarating or upsetting or a little bit of both. Remember that every woman is different, so you may not experience all (or any) of the most common signs of pregnancy:

Tender breasts/nipplesIf your breasts are swollen, similar to the way they feel when you expect your period, it may be a sign of pregnancy. In the early period after conception, many women complain about tender nipples.

Slight spotting or crampingExperiencing a light spotty discharge (unlike your usual period) and cramps are also common signs of a pregnancy and are caused by your uterus preparing for the baby.

Early Signs of Pregnancy

Nausea and vomitingMorning sickness, nausea and vomiting are the most common symptoms women expect when they’re pregnant. If you are pregnant you can experience morning sickness quite early – a week after conception along with other signs of pregnancy.

Frequent urinationFrequent urination is one of the most common early signs of pregnancy, starting about six weeks into your first trimester. This is caused by the extra fluid getting processed through your kidneys and ending up in your bladder, but also the pressure on your bladder from your growing uterus.

ConstipationWhen pregnant, it’s a very common belief that hormones go crazy inside you. The extra hormones produced during pregnancy cause the intestines to relax and become less efficient – and this can cause of constipation.

Missed periodThis is the first and maybe the most important sign of pregnancy, especially if your period normally is quite regular. Life’s all about choices, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do. In the case of experiencing these symptoms, get a pregnancy test or pay a visit to your doctor. Home pregnancy tests are around 97% accurate when done correctly. However, the blood test is more accurate, but not necessarily more sensitive. If results are positive, congrats, you’re going to be a mom soon!
