The main attraction of Pisa is the leaning tower.  Originally it had been built in 1173 to serve as the cathedral’s bell tower and then it started to lean because of the unstable ground at the base.   There was a well panned project to prevent the tower from leaning further and that completed in 2020. San Gimignano is a village located in Tuscany which is about 56 km from Florence. The families who belonged to this town had built more than 72 tower houses which were about 50 meters tall. They were wealthy and powerful and the towers were built to protect them from the enemy attacks. Unfortunately there was an epidemic and most of the people were devastated due to plague in 1348. Currently it is an important tourist’s destination which shows us masterpieces of Italian art which were there from the 14th -15th century.
