Brazilian bombshell Adriana Lima fronts the new Donna Karan spring/summer 2020 ad campaign. The VS Angel puts an interesting sultry spin on the designer’s tribal inspired creations, which had a great influence on the theme of the new ads shot by photographer Russell James. The dark-haired beauty stars alongside Spanish male model Andres Velencoso Segura in various locations in Haiti. The label’s new creations revolve around loose shapes and nature-inspired tones of terracotta, dusky blue, crisp white or rich brown tones.
Though earthy neutral tones are often considered as being subdued and inconspicuous, the plunging necklines, the unexpected asymmetric touches and the chic abstract patterns ensure that each of the looks from the new campaign are both striking and memorable, although the designer favors simple combos with an effortless chic flair. While the lightweight fabrics give the looks a romantic flair, the stunning wooden jewelry pieces create a nice contrast and change the vibe of the new looks dramatically.
Another aspect that amps the appeal of the new Donna Karan spring 2020 creations is leather. Leather accents are found both in the form of cool accessories and chic leather jackets which add an urban allure to the new creations. The focus on leather accents is highlighted strongly in one of the ads, where Andres seems to be working with a hide, which could be interpreted as a subtle hint of the label’s exquisite craftsmanship when it comes to leatherwork.
The label’s feminine ensembles can be a great source of alternative for those who are ready to abandon the tomboyish vibe many of this season’s looks were defined by, so they can serve as a good source of creative insight for those who want to inject a modern, feminine flair into their new season looks.
