Giambattista Valli Fall 2020 Collection

Giambattista Valli Fall 2020 Collection

The Giambatistta Valli fall 2020 collection brought several compelling alternatives based on the “boy meets girl” idea, through merging different elements from the two aesthetics adapted through striking proportions and exquisite pieces which captured the audience’s full attention from the very beginning. The approach was first reflected with interesting proportional contrasts which created a statement instantly without relying on strong chromatic differences, with more dramatic accents as the show progressed. The new line was fairly comprehensive, yet the looks were surprisingly coherent all throughout the line, despite the fact that the new options brought all kinds of interesting effects throughout the show.

The new Giambattista Valli collection brought a myraid of oversized coats, fur jackets or luxurious fur trims and a few fab metallic accents into the spotlight reflecting some of the next season’s most ubiquitous trends. Given the inspiration from menswear lines it’s not surprising that some of the looks from the new Giambattista Valli fall 2020 collection feel both cozy and comfortable. The white sole loafers are perhaps the most important detail that contributed to said impression. Despite many utilitarian vibes in the new collection, the designer didn’t try to negate his affinity for amazing luxurious feminine pieces that have the potential to turn heads every single time.

There were quite a few occasions when the looks felt exquisitely elegant and showed the designer’s background as a couturier, like crystal embellishments, despite the statement that the Giambattista Valli fall 2020 collection is centered around grown up, “practical kind of looks.” Still, the show brought one important novelty with a practical allure, a sleek square bag which has been titled the “Valli bag”. Will this be the start of a multitude of iconic designs from the luxury label. We’ll have to wait and see.

Though the biggest part of the Giambattista Valli fall/winter 2020 collection is centered around mononchrome looks and subtle textural details, the new line also brings some interesting prints as alternatives: gorgeous floral prints, adapted for the cold season, spectacular abstract motifs and even fairly subdued animal prints are some of the options that fit this category. While accessories were sparingly used, the label didn’t shy away from using statement pieces like bracelets to complete the looks.
