Rosacea affects about three times more women than men, so it’s no wonder that some celebrities have to fight this condition. Find out more about celebs with rosacea and how they deal with this serious skin condition.
What is Rosacea?
Usually, the onset of rosacea is between the ages of 30 and 60, but this chronic skin condition can affect men and women of all ages.
First symptoms include redness of the cheeks, forehead and nose, and without the proper treatment, it can evolve and cause small bumps on the skin and even a red lobulated nose.
Celebrities with Rosacea
The most well known face of rosacea is ginger actress Cynthia Nixon, known primarily for her role in the hit TV show “Sex and the City”. Nixon works closely with the National Rosacea Society, so she brings exposure to this disease that remains a mystery even for 80% of the people affected by it.
Common triggers of rosacea, including drinking alcohol and eating spicy foods, are relatively easy to avoid once you’re diagnosed and celebrities with rosacea certainly make the effort to treat the condition the right way.
“I try to have fans near where I exercise, and I avoid things like jogging out in the boiling hot sun. Stress can be a trigger, too, so things like yoga, not only help my body but they also help me have balance and calmness”, Cynthia Nixon explained to Shape.com.
Other celebs who have rosacea include Mariah Carey and Renée Zellweger, both of which manage to keep the condition in control and still look stunning.
Comedian Rosie O’Donnell is another one of the celebrities who have rosacea, and Cameron Diaz is another celeb who suffers a mild form of this condition.
Male Celebs with Rosacea
Former President of the United States Bill Clinton is one of the most well known famous people with rosacea. The condition also affects William Shatner, the actor famous for playing Captain Kirk in the original “Star Trek” TV series and in the first 7 movies in the franchise.
Famous People with Rosacea
When it comes to celebrities who have rosacea, the British Royal Family is one of the best examples. Prince Charles suffers from the condition which also affected Princess Diana of Wales. Since it seems to run in the family, both Prince William and Prince Harry have a predisposition to the chronic skin condition.
Other celebrities with rosacea include W.C. Fields, comedian renowned for his movies shot in the 1920s and 1930s and JP Morgan, famous banker who developed the condition in the early 1900s.
