The 2020 CFDA Fashion Awards held on June 2nd, 2020, at Lincoln Center, New York was one of the hottest red carpet events of the year as celebrities tried their hardest to look good. While some celebs nailed the look, others made poor style choices and were harshly criticized for their fashion choices, so take a peek at the following celebrity red carpet dresses and see who deserves the best or the worst dressed celebrity title at the 2020 CFDA Awards.
Best Dressed Celebrities at the 2020 CFDA Awards
Solange Knowles might have attracted more attention following her violent attack on Jay-Z, but it seems like the singer has other qualities other than her voice, she’s got style! The diva’s 20s inspired Calvin Klein Collection silver fringe detail dress screamed glamor and elegance and the low key accessories – a ring and a small box clutch – made her top the best dressed list at the event.
Model Liya Kebede looked impeccable on the red carpet at the 2020 CFDA Fashion Awards. Her option, a white shirt and an embellished white midi skirt by Wes Gordon, gave her an innocent, elegant and all polished look that was worthy of the highest praise. Liya kept accessories to a minimum, choosing a simple white envelope clutch and strappy white sandals with a black chunky heel.
It seems that for Blake Lively the 60s are the way to go as the actress looked amazing in a scalloped beaded golden- pink embellished green mini dress signed Michael Kors. Soft pink platform pumps, layered chunky bangles, a pink tone box clutch and a head scarf completed her look and underlined her feminine style.
We love a sexy dress that doesn’t scream vulgarity and that’s the main reason why we adore Joan Smalls’ 2020 CFDA dress. The model wore a lovely midnight blue Prabal Gurung side slit dress with interesting skin revealing details up top. Gold tone sandals, a chic ring and a simple necklace complemented her dress and made her look stunning.
Alessandra Ambrosio made heads turn in a gorgeous strapless red gown by Nonoo. Golden dangling earrings and two subtle rings were the model’s choice in accessories, and it seems that the ‘less is more’ mantra payed off as she’s got great reviews for her red carpet look.
Since glam looks are highly appropriate for red carpet events, model Chanel Iman dressed to impress in a gorgeous embellished long sleeve black dress signed Monique Lhuillier. A pair of black sandals and minimal diamond accessories completed her luxurious all black gown.
Designer Rachel Zoe couldn’t have missed from the best dressed list at the 2020 CFDA Awards as the former celebrity stylist is known for her impeccable taste. Mrs Zoe opted for a personal brand custom design, a metallic pattern long sleeve one shoulder gown which she accessorized with a golden clutch, loop earrings and a gold-tone bangle.
Olivia Palermo is rarely seen on the worst dressed lists and here’s another example why: her stunning all black fur accent blouse and fringe detail skirt screamed sophistication, and pulling off such a look is not easy. Black pumps with a quail print fabric detail, a black clutch, and a golden bangle and necklace completed her look.
Other celebs that made the best dressed list at the 2020 CFDA Awards were Jessica Stam, who wore a a white Giulietta peplum jumpsuit and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Beth Behrs, who chose a gorgeous emerald green crop top and asymmetric maxi skirt by Alice + Olivia, Heidi Klum who wore a summery peachy ruffle dress signed Donna Karan, and Bridget Moynahan who chose a strapless texture fabric electric purple gown.
Worst Dressed Celebrities at the 2020 CFDA Awards
We’re used to Rihanna’s risque fashion choices but it seems like the singer managed to push the boundaries and surprise us with a fashion option that made jaws drop, literally! Rihanna looked glamorous and all eyes were on her, but the transparency of her dress made the look fall into vulgarity. Her bare chest and bottom were clearly visible, so although the dress created by Adam Selman glistened under the camera flashes, Rihanna made it to the worst dressed list at the 2020 CFDA Awards.
Ginger haired Karen Elson chose a lovely golden Michael Kors dress that displayed a daring decolletage. Unfortunately, although the dress was amazing, it didn’t suit her body type and the fact that she went for all gold accessories didn’t help her either as the look lacked that oh-so-necessary pizzazz.
Lupita Nyong’o was dubbed a style icon from the start, but it seems like the Oscar winning actress is pushing the boundaries more and more often. After hitting the worst dressed list at the 2020 Met Gala, Lupita made another risque fashion decision by sporting a Suno top and below the knee cut pants, and Jennifer Fisher accessories, a look that didn’t rise to most people’s expectations.
Another celeb that managed to get mixed fashion reviews was Keri Russell who wore a Rosie Assoulin dress and Irene Neuwirth jewelry.
Other celebs that failed too impress at the 2020 CFDA Awards were Marion Cotillard in Dior, Jaime King in Calvin Klein, Karlie Kloss, Iman, Kate Foley and Pamela Love.
